Piper Heidsieck and Wine Fair in Estonia

Today we are drinking Piper-Heidsieck champagne. We will learn lot about champagnes during our long day in Tallinn, Estonia, visiting Estonian Sommeleir‘s  IX Wine Fair.

I have spent months in the pre-COVID world in Champagne and various champagne houses. Today, this seems to be a distant past. Not because of the pandemia, but because of the war. Champagne already suffered greatly during the Napoleonic Wars, during the First World War, and did not pass World War II. I will invest my time, money and skills as a volunteer in this situation now and here in Europe. Even during the wine fair, while participating in various master classes, I had to point my eyes and fingers at the phone from time to time, translate, compose messages, and post.  I tried as much as I could to learn about champagne.  The world of champagne and communication are the job of getting together. Fortunately, the participation in the jury of the international communication competition had just ended. I got a full Thursday for my job and school. Long day at the wine fair.

I recognized red from afar

Piper- Heidsieck red

And their merry mind. Colleagues have often seen me in seminars and trainings with a red Piper-Heidsieck bag. Strangers can raise their eyebrows because the embossed surface of the bag has a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses. But it fits my apple  very precisely. Computer. And my Mac also goes well with the golden interior of the bag. Of course, I have to take the champagne bottle and glasses out of the bag first. This bag gave me my sweetheart.

He said that although there is no rosé inside, this bag has my name on it. Well, it’s actually Piper-Heidsieck written on the bag.

Once at the airport as  my sweetheart was just paying for Piper-Heidsieck champagne packed in a metal box in the shape of a lipstick, the cashier asked: to a girlfriend? To which the sweethearts replied – no, it’s for a girlfriend and put a normal-sized lipstick on the counter.

Palyful Piper-Heidsieck

At the wine fair, my eyes were captivated first by the color red and then by merry slogans.  Of course, Piper-Heidsieck is playful. Companion at the Oscars and Hollywood parties. Marylin Monroe said, “I’m going to bed with Chanell No. 5 and waking up with a glass of Piper Heidsieck champagne.”

Probably every champagne lover knows Le Rituel. It was born together with Piper Heidsieck and Christian Louboutin. A set that includes one crystal shoe in addition to champagne. Still with a red sole like Louboutin.

And here they are, crystal shoes. Several pieces at the Sommelier’s Wine Fair in Piper-Heidsieck and Tridens. I was always convinced that this shoe-champagne glass or glass-shoe was created of  official metres of Louis XV  Madame Pompadour in mind. In a poem written to him, Voltaire called sparkling wine from the Champagne region champagne. Because it wasn’t just wine from the Champagne region, it was champagne. And it was Madame Popmpadour who claimed that champagne is the only drink in the world that makes a woman more beautiful.

I was wrong. Dominique Cima-Sander, the brand’s ambassador, explained that Le Rituel’s  glass-stiletto was created for Rituals. The ritual of the 1880s meant that cavaliers drank champagne from their favorite high heeled shoes. Either way, this champagne glass is just gorgeous. Many younger champagne friends associate the crystal shoe with Cinderella’s fairy tale, where the good and hardworking deserve love.

I was wearing a t-shirt with a simple wish at the wine fair: wake me for Champagne. Of course, I saw other nice sayings at the Piper-Heidsieck display.

The Piper-Heidsieck Champagne House was founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. The history with the brand ambassadors is so fascinating that it deserves its own story.

Now… about champagne

For starters, the Essentiel Cuvée Réservée is as fresh as the morning garden at first, with fresh fruit dominated by lemon and grapefruit. My nose is tickled by an apple “White Clear”, which is temptingly finished on the tree. But it won’t be ready until tomorrow. The aroma of a light almond cookie is a bit unexpected, but very pleasant. Such a light and powerful combination in the aroma also prepares for taste surprises. And don’t be disappointed here either. In fact, all champagnes rich in Pinot Noir grapes have a big advantage in my favorites. Pinot Noir gives champagne a captivating character.

First of all, fresh fruit is pampered by the taste buds, and it seems that the “White Clear”  is already ripe. The bitterness of the citrus peel is a bit felt and the apple pie with nuts and almond chips explodes with full force.

As the name suggests, this champagne also contains reserve wine. Essentiel matures in the bottles for 4 years, which gives it a pleasant aroma and taste of fruit cake and nuts.

47% Pinot Noire

grapes

31% Pinot Menuire grapes

22% Chardonnay grapes.

18% reserve wines.

Champagne is extra brut, with 5 grams of sugar per liter.

Other Piper-Heisdiecki champagnes came for tasting, but later.

I must say straight away that I did not get to the opening dinner at Rare 2006 because volunteering was waiting. Opening Rare 2006 is on my to do list. Stay tuned.
